What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the process of inserting a small sterile probe into a hair follicle reaching the dermal papilla, which nourishes the hair. A small electric current is applied to the dermal papilla allowing the hair to be removed and preventing the hair from growing again. Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method for permanent hair removal. It is a safe and effective method of hair removal.
What are causes of excess (unwanted) hair growth?
Factors that may contribute to excess hair growth are:
Heredity, hormonal imbalances, stress, certain medications, normal aging process, or topical influences.
How long will it take to achieve permanency?
Many hairs are eliminated with one treatment, but some will need two or more treatments to achieve permanency. The length of treatment time depends on many factors and varies from person to person. Electrolysis usually requires a series of treatments over a period of time. The length of time can depend on the amount of hair to be removed, the coarseness, the cause of superfluous hair, and other factors. Treatments are more frequent in the beginning and less frequent later on.
